Combine and let stand until cool:
1 sm. pkg. dates
1 t. baking soda
1 1/2 cups boiling water
Sift together:
2 cups flour
1/4 t. salt3/4 t. baking soda
Cream:
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
Add 2 eggs
Add ingredients altogether with cooled date mixture. Put in 9x13 pan.
Combine:
1 pkg. chocolate chips (6 oz.)H
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup nuts
Sprinkle on top of cake
Bake at 350" 30 min.
